People from many different backgrounds gather at Movilla Abbey Church for our vibrant worship services. There are three services most Sundays:
10am (Anglican led);
12pm (Methodist led);
You are invited to join us on any Sunday.
Sundays at 10 & 12
Our main Sunday gatherings are a place for worship and teaching, building us up as followers of Jesus, equipping us and sending us out to join in God’s work in the world.
Most weeks there are groups for teens, kids and little ones. On the second Sunday of the month all ages worship and learn together.
At Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and Harvest we meet together at 11am instead of at 10 and 12.
Sundays at 7
Our evening services are a time to go deeper with God. Each Sunday of the month has a different flavour:
1st Sunday: Worship & Scripture
No sermon! Just meeting God through worship songs interspersed with readings from the Bible.
2nd Sunday: “UNPLUG” – Scripture & Stillness
A chance to unplug from the noise and busyness of life and plug into the voice of God. We use two ancient practises of prayer and scripture reading: ‘Lectio Divina’ and ‘Centring Prayer’.
3rd Sunday: “SURGE” – Alternative Worship
Shaped for youth and open to all. Worship. Teaching. Community.
4th Sunday: Prayer
“To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world.” -Karl Barth
Creative prayer using all our senses. Together we invite God to move in our world and our neighbourhood.
5th Sunday: Healing & Wholeness
A gentle service open to God’s healing in body, mind and spirit. There is an opportunity for prayer.
